Microsoft Office 2010

In general, any fairly new PC computer (from about year 2010 onwards) fulfills the above requirements. Unfortunately, some required GIS software does not work on the operative systems Windows XP or earlyer

Also equivalent Apple Mac systems will run the required software.

You will also need any sort of Internet connection, in order to communicate with the course coordinators/teachers, participate in group activities and retrieve course material. We recommend Internet accessibility of at least 5 hours a week. If you do not have daily access to the Internet you could therefore use, for example, “Internet-Cafés”.

  1. If your computer has a different language installed then you can install the free English language pack from the Windows Update site. Notebooks that do not have an English operating system or language pack installed can not be helped by the Helpdesk. Supervised practicals also rely on an English user interface.
  2. Make sure you have a genuine installation of your operating system. Non genuine windows versions cannot be updated with the latest security updates. (Test it here.)
  3. Remove unnecessary software from your notebook before starting the iGEON programme. Demo or trial software can conflict with full software versions provided.
  4. Make sure not to install illegal software, because this will not be tolerated, access to  the online learning platform will be denied.
